Build Help

Building a Skoot

It’s quick and easy to build your own skoot! You can start from scratch by adding new locations and sharing your comments, or grab another user’s skoot and personalize it by adding your own points.

When you’re done, share it with friends or send it to your phone for easy access on the street.

Here’s how to make a skoot from scratch:

  1. Go to Build
  2. Log In (You need to be logged in so we can save your skoot)
  3. Click the “Create New Skoot” button.
  4. Name your skoot and add a description (if you are unsure of what you want you skoot to include, you can always edit both title and description later on)
  5. Select what categories your skoot fits in (again this can all be edited at a later time)
  6. Click “Create Skoot”
  7. You will be taken to a search box. Enter some key words and a location for what you are looking for
  8. When results appear, you can add each location to your skoot by clicking on the plus sign (+) box
  9. Continue building your skoot until you have all the locations you want.
  10. Select “Arrange.” This allows you to see all the locations you have selected, and drag and drop them in any order (directions will automatically update)
  11. Click on the Info tab, this is where you can make your skoot public or privat and add your own take on each location
  12. “Update Skoot” button allows all new information in your skoot to be automatically saved in MySkoots

Copy and Personalize Another Skoot

  1. While browsing through skoots created by other users you may want to come back to them at a later date. The heart icon allows you to save the skoot in your Favorites. You can also copy a skoot that you like, to edit and maike it your own. To do this use the copy icon to save the skoot into MySkoots. You will see these icons on the top right icon bar.
  2. Go to Build
  3. Log in
  4. Click on MySkoots where you’ll see the copied skoot
    1. Click Edit icon
    2. You will not be able to edit your skoot until you click on the Edit icon
    3. Add more points and add your locations descriptions in the Info tab
  5. Click on Favorites
    1. Review skoots you have listed as favorites through the Comments tab

Send-to-Phone

If you have a WAP-enabled phone or a mobile browser you’ll be able to view your skoots on your phone. Select the send-to-phone option from your skoot on TravelSkoot.com and you’ll be sent an SMS with a link to your chosen skoot. (T-Mobile users, we're working on getting you set up. Stay posted!)

What are the charges to use Skoot on my phone.

TravelSkoot does not charge for SMS that we send to your phone. Depending on your data plan with your carrier, you may be charged for data usage. Please check with your carrier to learn more about usage rate and fees associated with your mobile browsers ability to send and receive information.

When you choose to make a skoot public, the information for that skoot will be published for other users to view and copy. If you choose to make a skoot private, the information you provide will not be published to other users on the site. You can still send that skoot to your friends and access your private skoots from the MySkoots section of the site (under build).

Please remember that while you can make a private skoot public, you cannot make a public skoot private once it has been published.
