Make a Skoot
Ready! Set! Skoot!
It’s quick and easy to build your own skoot! You can start from scratch by adding new locations and sharing your comments, or grab another user’s skoot and personalize it by add your own locations.
When you’re done, share it with friends or send it to your phone for easy access on the street.
Here’s how to make a skoot from scratch:
- Go to Build
- Log In (You’ll need to log in so we can save your tour)
- Click the “Create New Skoot” button.
- Name your skoot and add a description
- Select if you’d like your skoot to remain private, or if you’d like to publish it for other TravelSkoot users.
- Click “save”
- You’ll be taken to a search box. Enter in what you’re looking for.
- Results will appear. You’re able to add a location to your skoot by clicking on the plus box.
- Continue building your skoot until you have all the locations you want.
- Select “Arrange.” Here you’ll see all the locations you’ve selected. Now you can put them in the order that suites your skoot.
- Your skoot will be automatically saved in MySkoots where you can email it, send it to your phone to use later, or edit it later on.
Copy and Personalize Another Skoot:
- When you browse, as you come across skoots you like, save them as Favorites, or copy them to MySkoots. You’ll see these icons in the top right icon bar.
- Go to Build
- Log in
- Click on MySkoots where you’ll see the copied skoot.
- Click Edit
- You will not be able to edit your skoot until you click on Edit.
Send-to-Phone
If you have a WAP-enabled phone or a mobile browser you’ll be able to view your skoots on your phone. Select the send-to-phone option from your skoot on TravelSkoot.com and you’ll be sent an SMS with a link to your chosen skoot. (Verizon and T-Mobile users, we're working on getting you set up. Stay posted!)
What are the charges to use Skoot on my phone.
TravelSkoot does not charge to you for SMS that we send to your phone, but depending on your data plan with your carrier, you may be charged your for data usage. Please check with your carrier to learn more.
Depending on your carrier and data plan, usage rates and fees will vary. You will be viewing your skoot on your mobile browser and sending and receiving information via your carrier’s network. Depending on your plan you may incur a fee. Check with your carrier to see what rates apply.
I Haven’t Received My Skoot SMS
We're currently live for the following US providers: Alltel, AT&T, Boost, Nextel, Sprint, and Virgin Mobile.
Sometimes it may take a little while for the SMS to go through. If you are still having difficulties, please try again. Also, check that your mobile number is entered in your account correctly.
Email-to-Friend
If you’ve got a skoot you want to share, or maybe you’ve made a skoot for a bunch of people, send it to them by email. Just click the Send-to-Friend icon, enter their email and send.
Save to MySkoot
If you’ve found a skoot you like and want to personalize, you can save it to your MySkoot area for later editing. Simply click on the "Copy to My Skoots" icon at the top right toolbar. The skoot will automatically be copied and placed in your "My Skoots" folder.
To got to "My Skoots" and see your saved skoots, click on Build, and then the "My Skoots" tab.
Access Favorites
If you see a Skoot you want to keep as a favorite, simply click the heart icon at the top right of the site. That skoot will automatically be saved to your Favorites folder.
To view your favorite skoots you have two options:
- Click the Browse button and click the Favorite tab
- Click the Build button and click the Favorite tab

Login
If you already have a skoot account you’re ready to go. Click on the login link at the top right of the site, or just click on the Build button and you’ll be automatically prompted to login.
Forgot Email or Password
Forgot your email address? No problem! Go to the Login page and click on the Forgot Email/Password button. Your login information will be sent to the email address you provided at registration.
Public/Private
Sometimes you may build a skoot you want to share with others, sometime you’d rather keep that skoot private. When you select to make a skoot public, the info for that skoot will be published for other users to view and modify.
If you choose to make a skoot private, the information you provide will not be published on the site, or made available although you will have access to it at a later date.
Please remember that while you can make a private skoot public, you cannot make a public skoot private once it’s been published.
